The renovation contractor has abandoned the job: replacing them

An invoice for additional works does not by itself prove that you ordered them or that the price is correct. Equally, an agreed total does not exclude every possible adjustment. Distinguish a new instruction, different quantities and changes in labour or material prices.
Article 266 of the Obligations and Contracts Act requires payment for accepted work. With unit prices, the amount is established on acceptance using the relevant quantities. Check whether the quotation promises a finished result for a total sum or measurable items, and how unforeseen work is addressed.
The Act also provides for a corresponding adjustment where the duly determined price of labour or materials changes during performance, even where overall remuneration was agreed. This does not justify an arbitrary percentage: the basis, applicability, contractual terms and amount must be established.
Keep instructions, approved drawings, quantity schedules and acceptance records. Directions from someone without authority may create a separate dispute. Correcting the contractor’s own defect does not automatically become chargeable additional work.
On acceptance, separate undisputed quantities from disputed items and record specific reservations. A signature on a consolidated account may have evidential significance. If work was useful and accepted, absence of a separate amendment does not universally mean nothing is payable; all evidence and the claimed legal basis require assessment.
